A man shot his father dead after short wrangles over money they acquired from selling their cow.

The suspect, identified as Oyefa, shot and killed Pasquali Mana, in Dorit Boma, Imehejek Administrative Area in Eastern Equatoria State, on Monday night.

Mathew Oromo, the chief administrator of the Imehejek Administrative Area, told The City Review on Tuesday that the duo had agreed to dispose of one of the cows to raise money for shopping for the family. Mana sent Oyefa to get the cow but instead, the latter returned with a loaded rifle and shot his father dead.

“The boy went and got the cow… but when the father asked him about that, he became annoyed and went home and took his gun and went to his father’s house and shot him dead last night,” he lamented.

Meanwhile, James Ayunyang, a member of parliament representing Imehejek Administrative Area in the state transitional legislative assembly, condemned the incident and called on the community members to use diplomacy in addressing problems in the families.

“This behaviour of even resorting to killing your father, who produced you, is not good. It is completely bad. So, if there is any misunderstanding within the family, you have to sit down, and there is a way of solving the problem,” he said.

He then called on the youth to refrain from unnecessary crimes where they target family members when feeling aggrieved.

In late March 2024, a man also killed his father in Lolongo Village of Imehejek Administrative Area.
